Eagle Pride Alert!
Our JH football teams had a good start to their season tonight with the Black team scrimmaging in Como-Pickton and the white team in Boles.
The Black team out scored Rivercrest 1 to 0. Bailin Gillis scores for CP and Carlos Estrada had an interception. Big hits were made by Edwin Castillo and Bryan Garcia on defense while the offense was led in blocking by Jeremy Flowers and Houston Pegues.
The White team out scored Boles 2 to 1. Touchdowns were made by Richy Munoz and Kayson Self. Sean Carpenter and Ethan Brooks lead the way with big blocks. Our defense played extremely well. Ricky Self delivered several crushing blows. Kevin McDaniels, Manny Martinez, and Trey Skidmore flew around the field to make tackles! Very proud of the way these guys went out and competed tonight!

Dear Como-Pickton CISD Community,
Concerning Your Tax Rate -
Last Wednesday, August 25th, our School Board adopted a new tax rate, which results in a reduction in our tax rate since last year. Every year, we hold a Public Hearing to discuss the budget and tax rate before the Special Meeting to adopt the budget and tax rate. I believe that it is important for the community to know that our School Board looks over all aspects of our budget, starting in early August. They do an amazing job at making sure our kids and staff are considered in every aspect, as well as ensuring that we plan for facility upgrades, upkeep, and repairs.
It is important for you to know that our school district's total tax rate has decreased by almost 15 cents since 2018-2019. The following information shows the exact total school district tax rate for every year since 2018-2019.
2018-2019…$1.04
2019-2020…$0.97
2020-2021…$0.9664
2021-2022…$0.8905
$0.1495 (almost 15 cents) reduction since 2018-2019. We have one of the lowest tax rates in the state.
We thank our School Board for working with the School Administration to build a budget that funds a quality education for our kids! Como-Pickton CISD is a great place to educate children, and it is no wonder our school board was selected by TREA as the State’s School Board of the Year.
Thank you for your constant support of our school!
Your Proud Superintendent –
Dr. Greg Bower

Dear Como-Pickton Parents,
We are fortunate to have been able to serve free breakfasts and lunches for our students this year regardless of your home income. In order to continue that for next year, however, our district must meet certain requirements. We meet those requirements by completion of certain things within the meal-packet forms. The first week of school, we sent these meal-packet forms home with your child. We need every single one of those filled out. It doesn't matter if you qualify for Free or Reduced Services, we still need to collect those by tomorrow. If your child did not deliver one to you, please contact your child's campus. We will be happy to email one to you if you need it or send another one home today. If we do not meet our requirements, we will not be able to offer free meals again next year. I think we all agree that this is a great service for every student in our community, and therefor we need your help getting those forms returned to school. Thank you for your constant support of our school - The Best in Hopkins County! Greg Bower - Superintendent
