Como and Pickton Communities - I want to remind you that our school will be closed for the Thanksgiving holidays next week. As we dismiss for an entire week to allow students and staff a chance to celebrate and give thanks for the blessings in their lives, I wanted to take a moment to let you know what we are thankful for in our district:
We are thankful for our nation, our state, and our community. We proudly fly our national, state, and school flag over our facilities. We are thankful for the brave men and women who have protected our liberties in the past, and we sleep comfortably at night knowing that they will protect our way of life in the future. We are thankful for our first responders, in whom we too often take for granted. We are thankful for our parents who trust us enough to bring us the most important thing in their lives, their children. We are thankful for our staff who continue to show love, care and patience to our students even while fewer and fewer choose the profession because of the stresses that come with the job in today's world. We are thankful for our school board who give up countless hours of their time as they make sure that our school is not only the Best in Hopkins County, but one of the best schools in the state. We are thankful for our churches and our local businesses who go out of their way to support our schools and programs.
Most importantly, though, we are thankful for our students. We are thankful for their smiles, their efforts, their personalities, and the trust that they place in us for their education.
As many of our students' families will be traveling for the break, we will ask in our own individual ways that your travels be safe, and that your time spent with family be rewarding and meaningful.
On behalf of the faculty and staff of Como-Pickton CISD, I wish you a safe and happy Thanksgiving.

The Veteran's Day program is this Thursday, Nov 11th at 10:00 a.m. in the Secondary Cafeteria. All veterans are invited to attend.
PARENTS: It’s time for the Hopkins County Blue Santa Toy Program again. Registration will be online again this year. The form went live on Monday. This is for all Hopkins County children ages 1-14. The family must be below 200% of poverty level. We have a chart on the registration form. If parents or children are on any Texas Benefits, they will automatically qualify.
