We had our first game of our JH girls basketball season tonight vs Alba-Golden. Our 7th grade finished on top with a victory. Our 8th showed tremendous effort vs a tough Alba- Golden but unfortunately the scoreboard was not on our favor. We are all very proud of you and both did a great job. Eagle Pride Alert!
Last night marked the end of our Como-Pickton Eagle Football season! A season some may have said was impossible from the start. Mostly all Freshmen and Sophomore students with a very small handful of upper classmen finished what some thought would never get started. They were banned from entering the school grounds this summer.... and they drove to another school to workout. Their football field was destroyed.... and they still showed up. The football lights were snapped in half.... and they still showed up. Their weight room was obliterated by a tornado... and they still showed up... Their field house was condemned and they had to get dressed out in shipping containers.... and they still showed up... they could not play a single home game.... and they still showed up... Some of the other players quit because it was too hard on them... and they still showed up... They had to haul their dirty clothes to another campus to get washed every day... and they still showed up. 15 year olds lined up against 18 year olds every Friday night.... and they still showed up. The scores got bad.... and they still showed up. The crowds thinned out... and they still showed up. They showed up. They represented us. They played hard. They loved the game. They got hurt. They got humiliated. They got ridiculed....... and they still showed up.
Some might call this a losing season.... I call this one of the greatest groups of winning football players and coaches I've ever known. If you love our boys as much as I do.... let them see your positive comments below. They may not have won many games this year.... but they won my heart... How about yours?
Sincerely.... The Proudest Superintendent on Earth.... Greg Bower
