Scott E. Thompson
Director of Bands
Scott E. Thompson is in his first year as the head director of the Como-Pickton War-Eagle Band program. He taught for two years as the sole director for Jena High and Jena Junior High in Jena, Louisiana grades 6-12. Before teaching at Jena, Mr. Thompson student taught at Ruston Junior High in Ruston, Louisiana under the head junior high director Gary Teague.
Mr. Thompson received his Bachelor of Liberal Arts in Music Education from Louisiana Tech University in May, 2015. He studied percussion under Dr. Greg Lyons and participated in the top Symphonic Wind Ensemble udner Director of Bands, Jim Robken. While at Louisiana Tech, Mr. Thompson was a member of the marching Band of Pride, Hoop Troop basketball band, jazz ensemble, percussion ensemble, and concert choir. Mr. Thompson was also participated in the Christian Student Center, intramural sports, and Phi Buda Ruda Percussion Service Fraternity.
In Scott’s spare time, he enjoys spending quality time with his wife and their baby girl, worshiping and fellowshiping with their home church of Christ in Lindale, hunting, fishing, camping, and playing both board games and video games.
Mr. Thompson’s professional memberships include the Texas Music Educator Association (TMEA), Louisiana Music Educators Association (LMEA), National Association for Music Educators (NAfME), Association of Texas Small School Bands (ATSSB), and Percussive Arts Society.
Assistant Director of Bands/Head Junior High Director
Anthony Abruscato received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Music Education from Texas A&M University - Commerce in May 2014. A graduate of Torrance High School in Torrance, CA, Mr. Abruscato comes to Texas with experience in solo and ensemble playing, concert band, marching band, and drum & bugle corps experience.
Mr. Abruscato is currently in his second year as Assistant Director at CPCISD. Prior to Como-Pickton, Mr. Abruscato was the Band Director at Boles ISD, and did his internship at Greenville ISD where he worked under Joel Weisberg, Director of Bands for Greenville High School. During his collegiate career, Mr. Abruscato studied euphonium and tuba under Dr. Jeff Baker. Mr. Abruscato participated primarily in the Texas A&M University - Commerce Pride Marching Band, the Symphonic Band, Tuba & Euphonium Ensemble, and Blue Cat Big Band.
In his spare time, Mr. Abruscato likes to spend time with friends, watch Netflix, play and watch all things geeky, and mess with home automation.
Mr. Abruscato's professional memberships include the Texas Music Educator Association (TMEA), Association of Texas Small School Bands (ATSSB), Texas Bandmasters Association (TBA), Internation Tuba & Euphonium Association (ITEA), International Trombone Association (ITA), and Kappa Kappa Psi National - Honorary Band Fraternity.
